A more accurate description of the "cannabis issue" is the cannabis PROHIBITION issue. The significant harms caused by the policy of cannabis prohibition affect ALL members of society, and therefore should be an issue of concern to everyone.

Politicians will not make cannabis law reform a priority until they are assured that their electorate will support their position.
Once the general public comes to understand how harmful, ineffective and costly the current approach is they will be more likely to speak out about it.
"We estimate the cost of enforcing cannabis drug laws to be closer to $1-1.5 billion per annum."
